ieiMedia’s vision is to provide our students with the confidence and sense of purpose needed for a life in global communications as emissaries of truth who are inspired to pursue a future as ethical and professional global storytellers.  Our destinations server a purpose to our academic delivery.  Learn more about the importance of these projects below and how a location for international studies should not be a backdrop to your classroom… but it should become your classroom of experiential learning.

Two students, Kris Miron and Yuying Guo, take photographs during Corpus Domini in Cagli, Italy, June 2, 2024.

Join us in Italy for 2026 and we will waive your application fee for any of our three unique projects Italy.  Follow the instructions at the bottom of this page.

The Bologna Project

In International PR and Marketing, students will  capitalize on Bologna’s location in Italy, to explore the concept of Public Relations on a global scale. Through a series of field trips, guest lectures and networking opportunities students will have the opportunity to learn first-hand from leading communications professionals  exploring the country’s rich food, fashion, and sports industries.  Students will travel between Italy’s most dynamic cities- Milan, the capital of Italian fashion and Bologna, a world-renowned destination for foodies.  Students will meet with journalists, editors, and book publishers.

The Cagli Project

The Cagli Project is a deep cultural immersion in the beautiful Italian medieval town of Cagli in the Apennine Mountains. You will contribute to an ongoing ethnography of the community, by documenting the stories of its inhabitants. This unique opportunity builds both storytelling skills and those skills relevant to cultural immersion, including learning some conversational Italian language.  If you’re interested in pursuing a reporting career in foreign correspondence or just writing about another culture, this program is a great way to begin.

The Siena Project

People have long used communications for social change, but now an emerging academic discipline – public interest communications– teaches students how to do it effectively. Join us in Siena, Italy, to learn public interest communications concepts and journalism skills as we work with an organization devoted to helping migrants assimilate in Italy. Learn the theory and practice of narrative storytelling while gaining proficiency in interviewing, writing, photography, videography, and digital content delivery. You will learn how to use strategic communications for social change as well as best practices for creating ethical multimedia content. If you’re interested in using communications to do good in the world, this course is for you.
