Faculty Led Programs

Faculty-Led Programs

Are you considering building a faculty-led project at your university but have too many challenges to pull it together?  Or do you have the experience to create a program but have no time to make it possible? You may have missed the university deadline or lacked some requirements for approval from your university. Whatever challenges you face, ieiMedia can help you bring your students abroad for a summer of experiential learning that will build their media portfolios and give them invaluable international experience.

We have two options for you to join us with a faculty-led project: traditional University Faculty-Led projects or our own ieiMedia Faculty-Led projects which does not require involvement from your university.

ieiMedia Projects: a story to share

ieiMedia provides recruitment support in many ways. For example, in this video which can be shared with your colleagues and students, Brendan Roth, an ieiMedia alum and James Madison University graduate shares his transformative study abroad experience in Urbino, Italy.

ieiMedia Faculty-Led

Our faculty-led programs solves the challenges of teaching abroad.  One of our significant advantages is ieiMedia doesn’t require a long lead time.  You and your students can join an existing project at any time – including for Summer 2025 – as long as we have available capacity.  You work directly with us, and students register through our website.  Our admissions and finance teams helps students through enrollment in the project, health/travel insurance, accommodations, academic credit, and more.

With an ieiMedia Faculty-Led program, your university’s involvement is welcome, but it’s optional.

This is possible because students can receive transferable credits from our school of record, the Univeristy of Jamestown.

Our distinguished faculty choose to use ieiMedia for their programs for many reasons, including:

  • ieiMedia programs have a low student-to-faculty ratio – as low as 4:1—a key feature of our experiential learning model. Students get to work one-on-one with professors.
  • Low minimum enrollment requirements— ieiMedia enrolls students from across the US, so recruiting students from your home university is not the only way to meet capacity requirements. Professors who bring as few as four or five students can join our faculty.
  • Recruitment support—Our admissions team helps recruit students with info sessions, promotional flyers, emails, social media, and tools. We welcome your ideas and will work within your university guidelines for promoting programs. No heavy lifting—You will not be on your own to plan the logistics and budget for a project. You can jump into an existing project, or we can support your goals to create a new one. We’ve got this!
  • It’s your course, of course—Our projects provide different learning experiences in various media-related disciplines.  If it fits our motto –“telling the world’s stories” – it’s ieiMedia. Our directors have prepared syllabi, and you are invited to participate in an existing course or add to the program based on your expertise.
  • Teaching stipend provided—ieiMedia pays a stipend to our faculty regardless of their income from their home university. We cover your expenses—ieiMedia covers airfare, housing, ground transportation, travel insurance, and other project-related expenses such as meals, excursions, and events.
  • Optional academic credit—Transferable academic credit is available for our students at a low cost of $150/unit through our school of record, the University of Jamestown.
  • Something new—Do you have an idea for a new project in a new location? ieiMedia has been building projects in new locations with our experienced staff for decades.  Let’s talk about where we will go next!
  • Expand your network—Collaborate with other professors on the project, meet new professionals, and make lasting connections with local business owners and community leaders.
