Katya Komarova

Katya Komarova (public relations faculty) is a visiting instructor at the Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications at the University of South Florida, where she teaches Advanced Public Relations, Public Relations Issues and Mass Media Research. Under Katya's supervision, USF students developed over 40 public relations campaigns for businesses and non-profit organizations in the Tampa Bay area, improving the community. Her specialty areas include public relations, media strategy and integrated marketing communications. Katya joined USF from consumer technology startup Houzz, where she built the company's presence in the Russian media.

She previously was the deputy practice leader of Corporate and Financial Communications at the R.I.M. Porter Novelli agency in Moscow. One of the campaigns she designed and implemented, “Take Children to the Movies,” was shortlisted for SABRE Awards EMEA 2016. Previously, Katya was vice president at Willard, Ukraine’s oldest PR consultancy, and account executive at Tetra Strategy, a political communications firm in London. She earned a master’s degree in public communication and public relations from the University of Westminster in London and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Odessa State Economics University in Ukraine. She is a certified Project Management Professional.
