Studying abroad is a transformative experience that allows students to immerse themselves in different cultures, gain new perspectives, and develop invaluable skills in today’s globalized world. The cost of international education can be a significant barrier for many students, which is why ieiMedia takes time to share and advise on accessible resources like the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Gilman Scholarship is designed to help U.S. undergraduate students who are Pell Grant eligible to pursue academic studies or internships abroad. The goal is to encourage students who need additional financial and supportive resources to study and intern worldwide. Additionally, recipients complete a follow-on service project, promoting the Gilman Scholarship to other students at their university after returning from their study abroad experience.

Gilman Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the Gilman Scholarship, you must be:
- A U.S. citizen.
- An undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States.
- Receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application or during the term of the study abroad program.
- Applying or have been accepted to a credit-bearing study abroad or internship program that is at least three weeks in length.
The summer 2025 deadline is October 10, 2024.
