Bob Bergland has designed and led numerous study abroad trips for college students at the schools Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State University. The trips have taken him and his students through a dozen countries have involved many students presenting their research at international academic conferences. His own travel experiences have included two Fulbright teaching appointments in Ukraine, and he has orchestrated visits from both teachers and students from Ukraine to give presentations in the United States. As a mass media professor, he published articles and given presentations about study abroad and planned over 50 short-term student organization trips within the U.S.
