Rachele Kanigel is a professor of journalism at San Francisco State University, where she teaches courses in writing, reporting, magazine publishing and media entrepreneurship. She was a newspaper reporter for 15 years for daily newspapers, including The Oakland Tribune and The News & Observer of Raleigh, North Carolina, and was a Northern California correspondent for TIME magazine. In 2017, she was named a Fulbright Specialist and she is available to work with international institutions on short-term projects of two to six weeks related to journalism, journalism education and media entrepreneurship. In 2006 she was named Journalism Educator of the Year, Four-Year Division, by the California Journalism Education Coalition and in 2010 she was given the Beverly Kees Educator Award by the Northern California chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. She has directed ieiMedia programs in Urbino, Perpignan and Jerusalem and is excited to help students explore Valencia.
