On June 24, four Loyola students took a much deserved break from their work in Cagli and headed to the nearby beach town of Fano for a concert by Coldplay, one of the world's most popular rock groups.

The concert took place in the cozy Piazza XX Settembre in the city center. Arriving at just the right moment, Ryan Creel, Mike Enright, Matt Falco and myself were able to squeeze in the front of the large crowd, and when the concert staff opened the gates, we nabbed one of the last free spots just in front of the stage.

The concert began with two opening acts at 9:30 p.m., with the main act finally taking the stage after 11 with their second album's opening track, "Politik." The band played most of the crowd favorites, including the recent hit single "Clocks." Lead singer Chris Martin was energetic throughout, jumping all over the stage and even swinging from the scaffolding. He slowed things down however for a stirring cover of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" to close the first set (with a few lines in perfect Italian).
