Svetlana Glamoclioa has been a student at l'accademia de teatro for just 6 months. She left her family and boyfriend in Belgrade, Yugoslavia to follow her dream to be of being an opera singer. This wasn't what she always wanted to do though. There were times when she wanted to sing pop music and she says that most of the other students felt that way at some point, too. The desire to sing opera requires a much more mature appreciation and passion for music. Svetlana says that her dream grew inside her little by little by the way that love does.

Before Svetlana decided to pursue a career in opera, she was in her third year studying computers at a university in Belgrade. She says that if everything fell through in her singing aspirations she could fall back on her computer education, but wouldn't want to. She only has four exams left to take in computers and then she would maybe manage a software firm or something of that source, if she had to. She feels that it is much more beautiful to work with her voice than a computer and thinks she would be bored sitting behind a machine her whole life.

Unlike most of her peers, Svetlana is not aspiring to sing at the Met or to be the most famous singer in the world. She is very passionate about singing, but also feels very strongly about having a family and does not see how the two lives can coexist. As an opera singer she would have to travel all over the world, leaving little time to be with her family. She still wants to be a very good, famous singer, but also does not want to sacrifice her personal life to do so.

Since she is only in her first year at Cagli, Svetlana's training has not become that serious yet. She is at the school for three hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon, seven days a week but with time her schedule will become much more rigorous. Right now though she says she gets bored with so little to do.

Cagli, being such a small town does not provide much more entertainment, but Svetlana especially enjoys the amount of different cultures within the school. She was pleasantly surprised to find people from so many different countries and loves learning about about their traditions. She has learned to cook Mexican food and cannot wait to bring it back to Belgrade.

Svetlana has a lot of training to do in Cagli and after she leaves even though she is not as ambitious as her classmates. She is still determined to have a successful career as well es having a family.

Baltasar, in his third year studying here from Mexico, is very far along in his training. He is staying in Cagli to sing in the upcoming shows, but will then be ready for auditions and competitions all over the world.

Baltasar understands Svetlana's desire to have a family and wants to have his own family life too. He feels however that his life as an opera singer can coexist with his family life. He thinks that traveling around the world would be horrible if he did not have a family to come home to. He knows that it will be a difficult balance to make, but when he finds the right person he knows it will work.

Baltasar studied opera for eight years in Mexico and in his last year there he decided to come to Cagli. Since opera is an Italian art he knew he had to study in Italy and Cagli is one of the top schools, making his decision pretty easy. Singing has been his passion his whole life- since he was five years old. His mother says that he was always singing as a child. He did not decide to sing opera however until he was twenty years old.

Baltasar sees his talent as a responsibility. He feels that since he has been blessed with this ability and has the passion for opera, that he must follow through on it. He could go back to engineering if he changed his mind about singing, but he feels that he must see his dream through through first as far as it will take him.
