Caffe Commercio's Musical Guest
I was unexpectedly lifted from my chair on the patio by the grinning, grey toothed bartender, Bicio. When He said that I was wanted inside, the first thing that came to mind was "Who here would want to talk to me?"

I took a seat in the back room of the cafe and Bicio closed the double doors, shutting in the light chatter and ciggerette smoke of the cafe's other lingering patrons. Our performer was introduced; a young, dark skinned Asian man with a thin beard trickling across his full, heathy face. The man nodded, and in clean Italian, he introduced his song. Soon after, lightly melodic guitar strumming filled the room and, after the opening bars, the performer joined in.

His voice did not match his appearance. From beneath the man's scruffy facial hair and thick jowls came a voice that was part love-sick latino, part Pavorotti. The audience remained attentive and I remember cracking a smile, a bit surpised with the performer's immense talent.

The Caffe Commercio, located in Cagli's historic piazza, has featured surpise local live music entertainment from time to time. The bar keeps a couple guitars on hand if ever a special occasion should arise.
The guitar plucking drifted by in light, erratic patterns. One salty-haired local slipped his arm around the woman next to him and gently pulled her hips closer to his own. Our performer remainded lost in the music, unaware of his growing audience. Pouring emotion into each note, he swayed back forth, and at one point, a local in the aucience joined in, matching the performer's distinct melody, and complimenting the song very well. The performer was not fazed by the interruption and simply continued on his musical journey, never once breaking stride.

The last few guitar notes were greeted by a hearty applause, along with a few sharp whistles and calls of "Bravo!" After a humble acknowledgement, the performer made his way to the door calling out "Buona Note" over his shoulder. He then stepped out into the dimly lit piazza and vanished almost as suddenly as he appeared.
